We’re currently asking our church family to join together in 21 days of fasting and prayer for our nation, our community, our SVWC family and each persons individual family. The 21 day Fast usually consists of a Daniel Fast as a general guideline, but each person may determine their own fast as they feel led. Some people do a complete food fast, others pick something that is challenging for them to quit, and others choose things like television or all forms of media. Our fast will conclude after our Sunday morning service, January 29th, where we will have a special anointing service and will pray over families and individuals.
Daniel 10:2, 3 – In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
Corporately fasting in January is much the same precept as praying in the morning to establish the will of God for the entire day. I believe that, if we will pray and seek God and give Him our best at the first of the year, He will bless our ENTIRE year! “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
Fasting is a principle that God intended for everyone to be able to enjoy. It’s not a punishment; it’s a privilege! By making fasting a way of life, you can get closer to God and grow in your spiritual walk like never before. Fasting is one of the most powerful weapons God has given us for our daily lives. Through fasting, you can experience a release from the bondage of sin … restoration in your relationships … financial blessings … spiritual renewal … supernatural healing and so much more!

-FAST AS A SPIRITUAL COMMITMENT / BE SPECIFIC
-Fasting involves a spiritual commitment to God. Be clear and follow the guidelines of your
commitment. “Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself” (Daniel 1:8).
-Before beginning a fast, write down a plan and make a verbal commitment to the Lord.
-When you approach your fast with determination and a clear goal, you will be less likely to
waiver in weak moments.
FASTING AND YOUR HEALTH: We recommend that you always consult your physician prior to beginning any type of fast. If you are poor in health or have concerns about your physical ability to fast, we especially urge you to consult a physician before beginning your fast. There are different types of fasts recommended on these pages. Your doctor can provide advice on how you can participate on this First Fruits Fast in a way that is healthy for you.
